Motogp Rear Tire Size

My graves r1 now has a 125 80 on the front.
Motogp rear tire size. Tire sizing on a motorcycle like a car comes in 3 numbers. The lower number of tires per weekend was considered a handicap to michelin riders. Tyre width aspect ratio construction type speed index maximum allowed speed rim diameter load index maximum load capacity. I found lots of specifics including the ones provided in this article except for this one.
Motogp used to be 500cc with 4 stroke 4t and 2 stroke 2t configurations right up to 2002 that was the cubic capacity limit of the engine up until that time. It s interesting the way engine size has gone up and down in motogp bikes has meant varying degrees of power which are delivered to the rear wheel in different ways. I m running 16 5 s on my superbike and use either a 200 70 420 or a 205 60 420 for the rear and a 125 80 420 for the front. The sizes are really all over the place.
And yes i have used a 205 dunlop on the rear of my zx 10 and it was a great tire. Motorcycle tyre size designations can be found on the tyre s sidewall with the following information. The only motogp team using dunlop tires in 2007 yamaha tech 3 did not use them in 2008 but switched to michelin. In 2008 the rules were amended to allow more tires per race weekend 18 fronts and 22 rears for a total of 40 tires.
Which is a 190 67 on a 16 5 rim. Pretty sure moto gp fronts are similar but they may be using something slightly larger on the rear rims sizes are typically r 16 5 x 6 00 to 6 25 f 16 5 x 3 5 3 63 i believe. I was wondering what are the detailed standard tires sizes for motogp 2020 for both front and rear tire. The gp guys get some very precise custom sizes.
In 2016 michelin took over as the official motogp tire supplier after seven seasons of bridgestone performing that function. The season was a huge learning curve for both michelin and the riders. That means the tire is 190 mm wide the height of the tire from the rim is 65 of 190 mm and the rim size is 17 inches. There shouldn t be secret regarding this info at least that i know of.
Michelin has officially confirmed that a new construction rear tyre will be available for the 2020 motogp season following a comprehensive range of tests held at a variety of venues last year. It s insane but this is what we all use. Yes this insane tire specification is a metric measurement a unit less ratio and a us standard length.
